Postcrossing pt2

Well today it finally happened.. I received my first postcard, actually i received 2.

One from a gentleman in The Netherlands

and one from a lady in Germany who sent me a card with her favourite holiday destination on, Lanzorote.

I feel i might be on a roll now haha. I almost hugged the postman.

Yesterday was a fun day. I’d won some Blackcurrants & jam jars, which where to be delivered yesterday. First thing the jam jars arrived then about 4 hours later the postman rammed a packet marked FRAGILE through the letter box. I opened the door as he was mid ram!

I  asked him to stop as the juice of my blackcurrants was oozing out of the padded envelope…. “oh” says postie “ i wondered what it was..there’s purple juice all at the bottom of my bag and all the mail has a hint of purple”

I opened my wonderful parcel to find lots of stalks laid in blackcurrant juice! so much for me making jam, they went straight into the bin.. Certainly made me smile though at the site of Postman Pat with purple fingers and the thought of all the purple post… And all because The Royal Mail couldn’t read a massive sticker on the packet saying FRAGILE.

Postcrossing~ my new hobby

Last week after chatting to a friend, I looked into Postcrossing. Basically you register to the website and send and receive postcards from total strangers from all over the world.

On Monday i hit the magic button that tells me a code and an address of a person to send a card to.

Belgium Flag

The first address to appear was from Belgium. I can send upto 5 postcards at a time and as soon as one of them is registered as been received using the special code we are given, i get a message to say its arrived and that i can send another card.

The next out of the box was Canada  canadian flag

Then Taiwan, which is apparently 9.622km away from where i am. and the furthest i’ve posted as yet.

 Taiwan Flag

the 4th place i had to send one to was Russia and each time i got a new address i smiled as its quite exciting not knowing who your posting cards to and also that they at their end are smiling too at receiving one.

Russian flag

My final address of the day was in Germany

German Flag

Since posting them last Monday, 2 have been received which meant i could ask for 2 more addresses. So i have now posted a card to Costa Rica  & The Czech Republic

As yet i haven’t received any back but as soon as i do i’ll blog about it. I’m quite interested in other cultures and am so excited at the thought of the postman dropping a wonderful postcard from somewhere in the world, onto my door mat.

I recommend you all to take a look at Postcrossing what a wonderful way to learn about the rest of the world.

Scrapbooking

I’ve been tracing my family history for over 20 years now and am in need of a further hobby.

I cut through Hobbycraft the other day and loved the look of all the sparkly sticky things and different textures of materials and thought about this thing called ( i think) scrapbooking.

I’d love to give it a go but have no idea whatsoever where to start. Where did other “Scrapbookers” begin? what did other scrapbookers make? is it called scrapbooking?

The only thing i've ever done was as a child when my parents bought me a scrapbook to stick pictures of my favourite things in.. i used to be armed with my pritstick and scissors and no magazine featuring The Bay City Rollers or The Osmonds was safe!!

So many questions.. I don’t have much spare cash so hopefully its a cheapish hobby to start, come on fellow bloggers help me get this bit of scrapbook madness out of my system, once i get things in my head i’m on a mission
