In my Last post i mentioned i’d won a 2 night break in a hotel. Wooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!
On arrival we were greeted with a wonderful receptionist who directed us to our room. It was raining quite a bit when we arrived but that really didn’t matter.
Dave walked into the room first and said “Oh Dear” I obviously thought we maybe had bunk beds or something. How wrong i was.. We were greeted with a magnificent four poster bed and Dave knew i’d probably cry at the sight of such splendor, he was right, a few tears fell as, as i’ve mentioned before, i have never won anything that i really felt i "needed" or stayed anywhere so nice.
Once we’d settled in we had a wander around to take some photographs and to take a look at the leisure centre too. Later on we grabbed our swimming costumes and headed back for my dreaded swimming lesson!
I was absolutely petrified, i’ve always been scared of water since i was about 8 years old when someone tripped me up at the local swimming baths and i went under for what seemed like ages. The water phobia has been with me since. I think i’m the only person who can manage to shower without getting my face wet. Anyway i managed to waggle my arms about for a bit but my feet seem to have a problem lifting from the floor! I did eventually swim though but can’t say i enjoyed it too much as i couldn’t relax. We then went for a Sauna… nipped into the Steam room and then a wonderful relax in the Jacuzzi.
Later we went down to the bar
where we ordered our food and had a drink, before been taken into the restaurant.
Dave wasn’t very adventurous and ordered Broccoli & Stilton soup. I ordered Fresh Mussels cooked in a thai sauce, they were absolutely gorgeous.
We both settled for a T bone steak for our main course as we cannot afford such wonderful food at home, it was cooked to perfection.
Dave had a side order of potatoes and vegetables, i had homemade chips with side salad and a Diane sauce.
The waitresses were great and made sure we were well catered for, we felt like royalty.
The following morning we had breakfast a choice of either a full English, Vegetarian or Continental. The Continental had everything you could imagine.. cheese, freshly sliced ham, croissants, fresh fruit.
All in all we had a fantastic 2 days and arrived home on Thursday relaxed and content.
Tracey, that sounds and looks like a perfect couple of days.
